difficult question
« on: September 12, 2007, 10:49:48 AM »
Hi,
im a regular at the NEF forum but new here. i have a question that may be difficult to answer.
i have a family tree labeling issue..  i have a Henry and Lily, Henry's mom is Luci, Luci's dad is Sherfame.
Lily's dad is Zeke, Zeke's dad is the same Sherfame.
so Sherfame is a grandfather to both Henry and Lily. what does this make them, kin wise ? 2 second cousins or ??
btw, Henry and Lily are married. but Sherfame was married to two different women when he had each Henry and Lily..does this matter  ?

I explained this as carefully and precisely as i could in hopes to get some help.. i know its difficult.

Scibaer,  Since Henry and Lily had the same grandfather that would make them first cousins. I hope this helps.

Scibaer,

Because my 6th great-grandparents Susanna Robinson and William Bradshaw were first cousins your question was not hard to answer.

Susanna's and William's grandmother was Mary Field.   Mary's first husband was Edward Jones and they had Tabitha, who was Susanna's mother.  Mary's second husband was Charles Scruggs and they had Judith, who was William's mother.

Doing research on your family tree you will find alot of surprises.

Oh you bet it will, lol .. i recently found out that my  dad was married to his older brothers wife for a short time after he passed. i guess when uncle al died, my dad had a thing for his wife and they got married,  no kids ofcourse and it didnt last, pressure from other family members and whatnot, but thats just creepy, lol ..
