CZ or TC??
« on: October 08, 2004, 01:21:17 PM »
OK, for my b-day I think my parents are going to buy me a very godod .22........ive told them that if they think that around $300 is too much for my b-day...then just take away some of my christmas b/c i want one really bad!!

I have really narrowed it down to the TC Benchmark, and the CZ American in .22lr.........i really am just interested in 90% accuracy, and 10% looks.....meaning i just want the bullet to go exactly where i say!!?? :)

So what do yall think?? I am leaning towards the TC benchmark, because I like the idea of a quick follow up shot, and the heavy barrel.......i just want it to be very accurate........maybe this is a little too outrageous, maybe not, but i would like to be able to shoot a squirrel (or rabbit) in the head from a deer hutning stand (with a nice rest) at 70-80 yards......is this expecting too much?? I believe I can make the shoot, i will just need to practice with it.....can this easily be done with either of the guns??

All in all......probably the TC is the way I am leaning, but I am not set in stone at all........i still have a little less than a month until my b-day (nov. 4th), so its not a real quick rush.......i just know my parents will probably want to take me to get it, or buy it a week or two ahead of time.....

what do all of yall think?? :D

Goose;

In my opinion I have to go with the Benchmark. I got one early this spring, and have been VERY well pleased with it since then. At fifty yards it gets kinda boring, the accuracy is that good. On a calm day at the range, I shoot from the 100yd. line. It sure is fun to hit those clay piegon pieces. From time to time I take my father with me and let him shoot it. He's 74 yrs. old and he said it was the most accurate gun he had ever shot. I won't ever forget when the first time he was shooting it at the 100yd. line, he would aim at the clay pieces then shoot, busting those little pieces, then turn to me and laugh. He has a ball with that rifle. So do I. Just to see him enjoy a day at the range makes the rifle worth every penny. Well..... that's my thoughts on the rifle, Good Shooting on which ever one you choose.  :grin:

Generally speaking bolt actions are more accurate than auto loaders. Autos are more fun because you can spend rounds quicker. I have a TC Classic that shoots real well but for longer range I would go with the bolt action. You will lose some power with the auto because it has to cycle the action. I don’t know how much you will lose but some will be lost. I don’t personally have experience with CZ but from all of the satisfied CZ customers out there I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one if I was in the market for a new 22. I honestly think it’s a big loss that there aren’t many tube feed 22s on the market that shoot shorts.

Be Safe,
Scott

Happy Birthday!  I would go for the Benchmark and not look back. I got one a while back and am VERY HAPPY with my decision, 1/2"-5 shot  groups at 50yds are the average with Wolf Match-Target ammo(alot of the times less than 1/2") I have never shot a CZ and can't really compare the two, but I did look at one and was not impressed with the fit and finish of the gun although I've heard that the 452 is a great shooter, alot of the guys at Rimfire Central luv'em that's for sure, and with good reason I suspect. I guess it boils down to your tastes in guns, I think you could probably get the CZ a little cheaper, at least around here. One thing I would be thinking about is a nice scope and mounts(maybe Christmas?) Gotta love your parents! My grandfathers bought me my 1st shotgun and 22. Great memories! Man, I sure miss hunting and fishing with them, they were my role models growing up.

I think i will be buying the scope......i am thinking maybe a Mueller 4-16x50 AO IGR, (BUT IT MAY BE TOO IG FOR THE GUN)......Then again......I will be using this to snipe squirrels and things from my deerstand, so weight is no issue........on RFC a guy is sellin a sightron 6.5-25x50 AO for $215, and I really would want it, I think the higher power would make me more comfortable on the longer shots......but i really dont have the cash right now??!! too bad!! :cry:

Thanx for the info.......does anyone know about the Silver Lynx by TC......?? Maybe that could be another option!!??

Goose, I was looking at the Classic not too ago and asked about the Silver Lynx(didn't have one in stock at the time). The S.L. ran about 20 bones higher than the Classic which would still keep it right in your price range. I am very partial to the Syn./Stainless combo when it comes to a gun that will be given some hard use. I would check it out before you make your final decision.  Good Shooting!
