I have an 1895 cowboy that is about 3 yrs. old .I probably shot it 500 times and have never had great accuracy like some have but it is acceptable. I recently found out it has a very tight spot under the front sight , or a bump i guess you could say. Will marlin fix this after all this time? :cry:

I'd just lap it out, fire lap or hand lap. Lots of barrels have tight spots where they are screwed into receivers, or stamping is done, and so on. I doubt you could get a company to correct this, but maybe it wouldn't hurt to try. Your expectations may not be the same as company specs, however.

Call marlin and tell them what you have found.This is quite a common problem with marlins in 45/70 and know of a lot of guys that marlin has replaced the barrel on there rifle.If for some reason marlin won`t do the work for free you can always do what leverfan has recomended it should take care of the bump.

I had a Wesson and Harrington Buffalo Classic in 45-70 that had a real tight constriction near the chamber. Thos rifle was hopeless. Called NEF, they said send it back, Due to range problems it took a long time but in the end got my BC back with new barrel and boy what a difference.

Give 'em a call it can't hurt.
