Hi

Does anyone know of a website that has a detailed description of the anatomy of the varmints we typically hunt (rabbit, squirrel, etc) and a shot placement guide?

Varmints (prairies dogs, rats and such).....as opposed to game animals (squirrels, rabbits) are put together rather simple...any hit between the top of the head and the tip of the tail is a good shot. Center mass is best.

i shoot squirrels in the head... if the head is hidden from view i'll shoot them in the front shoulder... either shot makes 'em dead very quickly... of course if you're talking about a 22-250 or something you'll be fine just putting your shot on the body anywhere.

I am shooting 22lr, so shot placement is important. It would be nice to know how big the heart/lung area is. It is probably situated in the front shoulder area where is it in most game animals, but it would be nice to see some pictures.

If you are shooting rabbits and squirrels I expect you are cleaning and eating them so just check one out carefully. If quick kills are important to you, use LR hollow points and don't take marginal shots.
