I'm a CZ convert, love my 452 .22mag I have to say much better than the Savage I traded it in for.  I'm looking to buy another.  Does anybody have any thoughts, opinions etc. on the 527 in .223?

I just bought a 527  in .223 with the walnut stock a few days ago.  Waiting on a scope ordered from Cabelas before I can try it out.  I have 3 other CZ rifles and the CZ-75 in 9mm, pistol, so I am a convert to their products.

At first I was reluctant to get a 527 as it is smaller than the usual  centerfire rifle, but I think that will help out on the weight when I use it for hunting as I do alot of walking, and a heavy bench gun would be a major problem as the day wore on.

I got rid of a Savage 11f in .223 a few months ago, junky gun.  Wouldn't extract the spent cartridge out all the way, cheap stock.

I have one in .22 hornet.  It is boring, shoots all shots in same hole, don't have fun looking for loads, thinking up excuses for missing.  Shot group of .3 1st day I got it.

I spend half my time patting myself on the back for buying it, and the other half kicking myself in the backside for not getting it sooner.  Leads to sore musles.

From all I have heard, the .223 may shoot even better than the hornet.  The single set trigger is wonderful, the action is a beautiful miniature Mauser. and the stock and checkering are great.  I have yet to hear of anyone with a 527 that wasn't absolutely delighted with it.

I have 5 CZ's,, 3, 452's and 2, 527's.  The first 527 I bought was a Hornet.  I have several hornets including an old winchester m54 and an older Kimber M84.  The CZ was the fullstock version without the set trigger..  With almost any load it will shoot under 3/4 inch... No load developement fun there and the fullstock guns don't shoot as well as the standard one's!!  the second was a 223 in fullstock with the set trigger.,.(love those fullstocks!!!!!). It too was under 3/4 with just about any sane(some not so sane) reloads put up in military brass!!!  I bought spare magazines because I will keep these rifles.  I use these as my carry rifles around the farm on the ATV(they share the task with an old M722 in 244).  Coyotes, feral cats. ground hogs and any other needy pests succomb just fine...  I love those rifles!  I next want a 550 in 7x57 with the fullstock....  Best Hornet I've ever worked with, and that includes the NEF, Kimber, and Ruger77/22Hornet..  (the first of the 77 hornets were a real trip, poorest accuracy I've every seen in a new factory rifle)..  You'll never regret buying the CZ and the 223 is a great little round..  I'd buy another in 222 Rem but I've already got 5 rifles in that caliber and they all shoot just great..

Does anyone have the 527 in 7.62x39?  If so is it accurate?  What do you think of it?

yep, we have a 527 in 7.62x39, have had it approx 6 months and very pleased with it, very acceptable accuracy out of the box, could possibly benefit from a bedding job but shoots fine at present so will save that for a rainy day. We use Lapua cases, Reloader7 and 123gr Hornady Spire Points.

Can anyone tell me the twist rate of the 527 American in 223, thinking of buying one.

Cheers
