Holster Help!
« on: February 10, 2003, 12:43:17 PM »
I am thinking about going to some IDPA outings and need a holster for my Beretta Cougar 8040.  I really like the Fobus Roto holster but it looks like they don't make one for this model.

I could use some help finding a holster.  Here is what I'm looking for:

1) versatility - strong side/cross draw
2) ability to purchase online
3) strapless retention
4) durable

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

You could do a lot worse that a Fobus Paddle. Mine doesn't go anywhere once it's cinched by a belt.  The Safariland might be another excellent choice.  http://www.safariland.com/custfeat.htm
Good luck, JeffG :D

BTT

I would love to get a Fobus Paddle - where can I find one on line?

I like the SL holsters, but I don't want to go the leather route at this time.

Thanks!

I have a Safariland 5181 that I REALLY like.  I use it with my Sig P245.

I don't know if they make one for your gun.  You may have to call them.

Here's a couple of sites you can mail order from.  They are all reputable.  Just use "fobus holsters "  for a search keyword.  Good luck! :D

AHHHHH...

Fobus does not make a roto or paddle for my Cougar 8040.

Hey AC - what's so great about the y-slide?

I like the SafariLand, but not sure which model to get and I want to shop around.  I can't find a good store in my area with a big holster collection.

Anyone else have a suggestion for a versatile - non leather hoster for this gun and where I might get one?

Thanks!

Most Holster makers seem to be making Yaqui slide (slides on belt) these days, and also available in paddle version (clamps on belt). There is lots of discussion on the web about 'em cuz they are definitely popular. I've got the Gould & Goodrich 'Gold Line' version in chesnut brown color. Talk to other shooters that have a Yaqui slide for competiton or carry.
