Working on the Mrs to come on in and play
« on: September 29, 2004, 02:49:54 AM »
I was cleaning up the firearms after last week-end.  My wife was in a super good mood so I let her read the club newsletter (I'm the new editor) and she got a chuckle or two.

Was pulling out my 45 RV and said, "This is my Ruger; built like a tank but really heavy."  She picked it up and totally agreed.

Then I pulled out the Ruger 32 and said, in an off-hand manner, "This one is yours and you can see how light it is."  She took a much longer look and again(!) agreeded.
My brother had let it slip a couple of months ago that I had gottern her a pair of Rugerettes for when she joins in so she wasn't surprised that we had them, just that they fit her hands so well.

She's coming round; just can't get too pushy or she'll jump the hook

Good on you pard!!!

My wife adamantly refuses to shoot competitive stuff anymore. (She did a lot of shooting in another shooting sport before we met and sayz them dayz are behind her forever) But if you get the Cowboy Chronical or The Shootist you may have seen how I get her involved now. She's a great photographer! The last issue of The Shootist had one of her snaps on the cover and anytime I do an artical for The Chronical she does the photo work. :-D

Howdy,

I've got a similar deal.  My dear woman likes to shoot, a bit.  So far, she just hasn't been bit by the CAS bug.  I have a full set of guns for her to use, just a waitin'.. just needs leather and clothing.  (and there is no WAY, that I'm shopping for that.. one sizing mistake could result in painful injury. ;))

I just slicked up her Marlin Cowboy, maybe that'll get her going.  She is missing a lot of fun.

Adios,

I even was trying to get on her good side by telling everyone she was 60 years old.  All her friends kept telling her how good she was looking, how youthful.
Turns out when she found out what I told them she was a might displeased.

CR, I know your reelin' her in a little at a time and thats good. Speaking from experience I think I know something that will help. When I first started, my wife came with me but wouldn't go near the firing line, but she kept coming to support her worst half. As she got to know the other ladies that shot, they started encouraging her to shoot. I wheeled and dealed and got her guns and leather so she had her own, and then the other lady shooters took over from there.

I like the fact that I can include my wife in a hobby that we both enjoy.

Keep tryin' brother!
