Do you keep records of your CAS shooting?
« on: September 11, 2004, 06:20:36 AM »
I just might be abit anal, but I have kept the scores of every match that I have ever shot in (157 right now) and every stage (886 currently).  I know my Yearly Averages and my Overall Lifetime Average.  Weird, huh?

But to tell the truth, it helps me in discerning whether I am improving or not.  The good shooters tell you to practice with a timer (which I do) and I kind of consider this as an extension of the timer in actual competition.

I am not a Top-Notch Shooter, but this lends interest to me on a continuing basis and it made me realize that accuracy is a tremendous help in lowering your times.

Just wondering.......

Had enough of speed when I quit IPSC and started our CAS club.  Never gave no never mind to my scores since and never will.  I hear the ring on steel on a regular basis and come in the top 1/3, sometimes higher.   I'm content on where I am and have no desire to get any faster.  I just like making smoke and relieving stress.  :-)

Last match we had about 40 shooters each day.  Felt I did about the same on both days.  Sat I was 35th, Sun I was 19th--can't figure it out and don't care.
I do check just to see how I do against my pards and my brother but I could be last and have as much fun as iffn I were first.  In fact, one time had the top gun for that match on our stage and he worked way too hard for me to do that.
I try to look good and shoot downrange; and pick up a few style points along the way

But if a shooter wants to keep track, go for it.  CAS is whatever you want to make it.  If you ain't having fun something is wrong, other than that everything is fair game.
