scope moving

357 herrett 10" scope keeps moving back after about 8 shots .I started with weaver rings now leuplod still moving.any ideas.

Line the rings, lower and upper, with very fine sandpaper.

Be very sure the rough side is towards the ring, not the scope. That way no visible surface will get scratched.

This is what I do, tim a File Folder Label and stick it in the bottom half of the ring, that should keep your scope in place.

the file label, or a similar sticky back paper will work. some scopes come with "friction pads". sticky back labels will do the same thing.
i usually put them in both bottom and top ring halves.
my ruger redhawk 44mag with factory rings has been about the only slipping trouble i've had. slipping stopped imediately after adding friction pads.
may also look into reaming/lapping scope rings for proper alignment. i recently made a tool for lapping. 1" solid bar stock, drilled/tapped on the end for a long tap screw. you can then turn the bar with a drill to even up the rings internally. it also works well for turning in dovetail rings. lapping kits, or reamers can also be purchased. possibly "brownells", or "sinclair intl".

I put a narrow piece of black electrical tape, the full length, in both halves of the rings.......sticky side to the rings.

Once you get the rings chinched down the scopes don't slip and the tape doesn't mar the scope finish.

Make sure the rings are aligned, clean and cinch em down evenly and in a pattern. Gap's should be even on both sides of the rings too.
Besides the scope should be moving forward not backward.

What I did with my Weaver mounts is used 3 rings. There is room for the third ring on my T/C scope and there is a grove on the Weaver base that will take the  third ring. Works GREAT never had a movement with the .308. Besides that it looks REALLY COOL.

I have used the 1200 grit wet/dry sand paper and tape or sticky labels.  Don't use too much, you don't need it, and the more isn't merrier in this case.

Don't forget a little locktite 222 or fingernail polish on the screws to keep them down.

I tried all the above.I ended up with three of the Weaver Quad rings with label on bottom of base only.So far its okay about 40 shots scope has not moved yet.
