No, got them all with the deerfield .44 mag. That gun has been my favorite hog gun when im not hunting with a bow. With the red dot it is very fast. I got 4 out of 5 last night, i dropped the first three before they even started running-bang,bang,bang. The fourth one was running hard when i dropped him, the fith one got away. They all went down right where i shot them- cant beat the energy of the .44 up close! :D

:-) You must have some dumb or deaf hogs out there. The ones
around here are usually gone in a flash once you shoot. Once and a
great while they will run down one of the senderos, that is usually
bad news for them 8)
Here is what I ment by before and after:

Good Going Tad.
Hard to beat the little 44 mag. when you get in amongst a group of hogs and you get the jump on them. When the deerfeild first came out my best buddy got one and i can say that, in a situation like you was in, nothing could have been any better. Congratulations on a job well done.
Say ! I haven't heard from Howie in a few days,, Wander what has happened to our moderator. Its just not the same without him. Good luck on any future hunts Tad..........And Howie good luck to you also, The Bear said that............Joe..............

Awesome job Tad, makes me want to go out and get me a 44 auto! Been looking for years, just never found a good deal. The red dot, what brand and any idea on cost? I have just gotten a 336 in 35 Rem and was thinking about putting one on it for this type of situation.

 My bad I didn't know that Ruger made a 44 semi.

Ruger 99/44 Deerfield Carbine
Semi-automatic Rifle

It does look just like a 10/22, though. Man, for 895.00, though.
If I was spending that on a semi auto, I would get an AR10 or
Eagle arms. Oh, yeah, I already have one  or two,

$895 ,WOW! I guess i got a good deal on mine. I got it when they first came out for under $500. I also have an old ruger deerstalker .44, but it tends to jam at bad times. I also like the clip feed on the new one- makes reloading much faster. I got the red dot from CDNN catalog for about $20. Its cheap, but it has killed a lot of hogs

I have the old version too, acutally killed my first deer with it. I have never had the jammin problems though. I love that little carbine!

You must have looked at the suggested price on the deerfield!!! I can sell a new one for $495. Ruger's suggested prices are way over what they actually sell for.
