I recently purchased a cz silhouette just to have a good 22 and to have something to use for silhouette right now i have a 3-9*40 nikon on it barrowed from my deer rifle but and planning on buying a sightron not sure what power or reticle,also not sure about sightron and am open for ideas. i also was wanting to know what ammo most people prefere in their cz's i am using winchester dynapoints right now but a looking to try something new

Your Nikon is fine for now. The Sightron is a good scope. Other than the old Weaver T series, perhaps the best tracking system available. Certainly not the best optics but enough for what we want to accomplish. Sightrons have variable scopes, 4x14 and 6x24. Either one will get you where you might like to go. The majority of shooters use quite a bit of magnfication, many far more than they should. If you would like to leave that option open, the 6x24 is probably the best option.

I don't remember if the dynapoints are standard velocity or high velocity... most folks find better accuracy with standard velocity ammunition.

My shooting partner chunter shoots a Sightron 6-24 and likes it a lot. I'm saving my pennies for one as well or maybe the Sightron fixed 24 (SII24X44D).

As for the Dynapoints. They shoot fairly close to the point of aim that the rest of the standard velocity stuff does. It's almost but not quite the same point of aim as the Wolf Match Target that I use but the cost difference has me choosing them for practice. I tried various Federal, CCI, RWS and Remington/Eley loads and have settled for the present on Wolf MT and Dynapoints. My variability is greater than the ammunition.

I've said before, the CZ is a great gun but the creep due to the sear engagementeven started driving me nuts. The problem is the trigger is nonadjustable, you can't reduce the sear engagement unless you stone the trigger sear surface. Shoot it and enjoy it but you may want to be aware that someday you may want a better trigger.

Yea i had that problem with my cz but bought a brooks trigger and it fixed it for the most part use the red tube and third lightest spring in thing lighter just gose off when you do the butt to the ground test

I just bought a cz 452. I tested several boxes of high end ammo in it. The best bang for my buck was federal gold medal match 900. I bought a case of it for about $4.00 a box. This thing shoots consistantly quarter sizes groups at 100yds. I found a smith that smoothes out the travel on the trigger and it is a real fine shooter.

hh,

where did you find Fed 900 for $400/case? To the best of my knowledge it isn't made anymore and those that have it are very proud of it.

I bought a Sightron fixed 24x earlier this year, just to try. I used it for about 6 months and then decided that, as good as it is, I still prefer my Leupold. (If I didn't already have a Leupold I'd probably buy the Sightron). The two things I think put the Sightron at a disadvantage to the Leupold are 1) optics and 2) elevation adjustment (1/8 minute clicks that lead to the dreaded etherworld of the Second Revolution). Things I like about it are 1) price, 2) weight (comparable to a Leupold fixed 24x) and 3) tracking reliability.

Anyway, I was planning on selling this scope but haven't got around to it yet. If you're interested send me an email (it's on my profile). I think I paid around $300; I'll sell it for $250 (or make me an offer).
