Williams WGRS Receiver Sight
« on: September 22, 2004, 09:57:12 AM »
Looking for another sight for my Marlin 62. Currently have the Williams FP on it and works well but is obtrusive. I see the WGRS is top mounted and would be a lot better. Can you tell  me if the same sight for the Marlin 336 is appliplable to the Marlin 62? The scope bases are the same but I don`t know about the rest.

They seem to be the same base but just to be sure I'd call Brownells teck line.  The number is 800-741-0015.  They will either know or will find out for you.  I've used the WGRS but not on a marlin.  Let us know what you find out..

gunnut I know for a fact that the bases are the same. When I first got the M62 I bought Weaver bases and scoped it. (Was still 256 Win then). The bases had a list on the back of the pack that indicated models it would fit. Both the 62 and 336 were listed there among others. Looking at the top of the receiver it has become apparent to me that the WGRS sight is designed to mount to the scope mount holes so to answer my own question, I`m now sure that the sight will fit the 62 if ordered for the 336.
I think its going to be a much better arrangement. I keep the Marlins in a Thiple K leather scappard and the sight on the 62 wants to snag on the way in plus it is just generally obtrusive because it is rear mounted and rides high and behind the receiver. The same sight mounted on the 336 is on the other hand a tight fit and blends into the receiver so well that it has never been the least of a problem. On the good side the FP sight has been perfect in function on both. POW
