On older .22 rifles, If the bore is relined by a good gunsmith, is the relined barrel as accurate as the original?

An awful lot depends on the skill of the smith and the quality of the liner.  Also it depends on the bore condition when relined.  You will not see a relined gun on a BR50 range in competition even though a m52 was relined.  If the bore is bad and you'd like to shoot or hunt with the rifle and it's original barrel stamps, relining is OK.  I've had some great luck and one real disppointment.  The disappointment was a cheap liner in an old boys rifle. It shot poorly until lapped.  Lapping, with a cast lap, polished out something that was causing a problem and the accuracy became acceptable.  Perhaps even a bit better than I was looking forward to..  But if time was money that reline was pretty expensive.
