Who makes, does anyone have, a left-handed percussion rifle, a 50 cal or larger. CVA shows only right handed models, dont remember about lyman. Would also like to buy a used percussion lock, if anyone has one.

The trouble with the Left handed Percussion Rifles is finding Left Hand percussion caps.

Lyman does indeed make left ahnded guns. I just bought a Deerstalker (right handed of course,) and was totaly impressed with what I recived in the mail. Beautiful wood, nice looking gun and a shooter to boot.

I know Traditions and even Cabelas make percussion in left hand. And what's the whole deal w/ left hand caps? Don't they fit the same nipple? Weird. But....there's my :money:

I have the Lyman Great Plains Rifle as well as a Traditions Hawkins, both left handed. As mentioned Lyman also makes the Deerstalker in a left handed model. Cabelas carries the Traditional Hawkins, its made by the same folks that make the Lymans. you cant go wrong with any of these rifles IMO.

I just used the last of my left hand percussion caps, but I do have some match grade musket caps for sale. :lol:

Seems a waste ta me. No one else with a normal hand can use the thing. A good idea is ta turn the normal rifle upside down and have an under hammer rifle like the H & A. A benefit is knowin where your ramrod is for ya shoot the thing.

If you run out of left hand percussion caps, you can turn right hand ones
180 degrees and they'll work O.K. I know folks who have been doing it for years.

To bring this discussion back to the original question, I posted a WTB ad here and on other forums for a LH TC Renegade and had a couple of replies. I bought one of them. There are some used TC's floating around.

BTW, I picked up 1000 CCI LH #11 caps the other day. They MUST be placed on the nipple from the left side.

Get a Dixie Gun Works Catalog. I got a Tennessee Mountain Rifle from them 20 years ago and have had great luck with it. they come in both left and right hand models and flintlocks to. Its a bit long to carry to far in the woods,but shooting from a stand or sitting near a run it works great! Mines in .50 but think they make them in .45 too

The Dixie Tennessee rifle came in .50 caliber and .32 caliber. I'm not sure about .45. I don't see them listed on Dixie's web site any more, though.

I have a Leaft handed TC Renegade and have shot many a mule deer with it. They are verry accurate and not to expensive. I use 110 gr of powder and a 405 gr Power belt. Its a .54 cal and packs a hell of a wallop and is a blast to shoot.
