I have a handi-rifle and sometimes when I push the button to break it open after a shot it gets stuck. I end up having to really push it hard to get it to pop open. Does anybody have this problem or the solution?

My .357 maxi was doing that when the primers were cratering and sometimes perforating. It was caused by hot loads used on a topper frame. Switched to an SB2 handi frame and all was well with the same load. How do your primers look? Is there a little raised edge around the pin strike?

Question needs more info....it's kinda like..."why won't my car start"?? Is it a new rifle that has been set up by the FACTORY? Shooting handloads or factory ammo? Was another barrel added that was NOT fitted by the factory?? If "new" rifle did you clean the heck out of it before you shot it? It comes from the factory just full of 'crap" free of charge......pardon the expression....:roll: If the answer is NEW rifle and factory ammo.....send it back to H &R and they will fix it for free...you might also ask for a trigger job on it while it's there....ask them nicely for one for free as your really disappointed that your having to send a brand new gun in for repairs and can't use it for a while.... :roll: ....welcome to the group by the way!

Its had about 40 shots through it. It only happended about 3 or 4 times out of that 40. 30 of the the 40 were done buy shooting 80 grain federal softpoints and these were the ones that would stick. Its not a big enough deal to send it back because I can just push down hard and it will break open, but I was wondering if there was a simple suggestion?

More info is still needed.
What caliber is it? Only 40 rds, does this mean it is a new gun, new barrel add-on or new to you?

SB-1 receiver, or SB-2?

Is this factory ammo or any military stuff or hanloads (back to the caliber question).

We'll gladly help but need more from you. As was mentioned, it sounds like hot loads. by the way, if these are too hot IT COULD EASILY BECOME A BIG DEAL.

Well...have you disassembled it and cleaned out all the factory grease and junk in it...you might either have a burr or debrie in it....

Its a .243 and I'm shooting factory federal 80gr soft points out of it. It has only had 40 rounds and its brand new. The barrel came with the gun. I cleaned it well when I got it. No idea what reciever it is.

Could it be the heat I was shooting in? It was pretty hot out. I went to the gunsmith today to pick up a shotgun and he said that I should spray some oil down there and work the action a bunch of times. If that doesn't work to bring it in and get the burr filed off.
