I'm in a quandry.  My local dealer has a number of M98's in stock with perfect bores.  I wish I could remember the specifics,but I can't and he'closed today.  These are not 98k's and have 24 or 29 inch barrels and are all in the venerable 8X57.  priced around 225.00.  I'm thinking of scoping one and adding an aftermarket trigger and  using it for a cast bullet shooter.  Before everyone jumps on me with cries of heresy I've looked high and low for a rifle that has already been cut down but I can't find one that meets my requirements for having a good bore.  At my age and infermaties I realy don't feel this is origional sin.  Feedback please!  I guess I'm hopeing for someone who thinks the way I do to help sooth a possible guilty concious......Thank's  Essex

do what you want to do, and don't let anyone else tell you different.your the one that's paying for it and will be using it. the only time that i'm against the idea of modifying a rifle is if it has some sentimental attachment, like it belonged to your grandfather and it's a family heirloom. if you feel guilty, buy 2 and keep one original and do what you will to the other. i know this goes against common thinking about milsurps, but really how many Mausers where made? 1 million, 2 million? it's not like they're rare as an original Walker Colt.

kevin303  is right its your money if you want it do it we only pass this way once I did three already but i have many others that are orginal's too.
