4895 Info needed

I want to purchase some 4895 for reduced and full power loadings in 30-06, .303, 7.62x54 and 8x57. Can someone tell me which brand, IMR or Hodgdon, they prefer and why?

H4895 would be my choice simply because it is an extreme powder....not  as sensitive to heat and cold.

Difference is H4895 is generally faster tahn IMR4895.

I agree with the previous post about Hodgdon because it is in their Extreme line of temperature insensitive powders. I've used a couple of their extreme powders and they work as advertised. It's a great feature because I will be shooting in anything from below zero to over 100 degrees.

hodgdon has reduced load data at their site for H4895. it can be reduced up to 60% i believe.

How would I calculate the data from one to the other?

I have data in the Speer manual for 56 to 60 grains of IMR 4895 for their 220 grn 350 rem mag. What would this traslate to for H4895?

H 4895 is slightly faster than IMR 4895 with Reloader 12 between the two.  Unless you are operating at near max loads there is nothiing to worry about when exchanging data.  If working  up towards the max load, you can always substitute the slower powder for faster powder data.  In other words, if you have a Hodgdon book and IMR powder, you can safely load the IMR 4895 to the figures listed for H 4895.
