Belted rounds hard to load in Encore Rifle

I have a 300 Win Mag barrel for my Encore. When I push the cartridge in the chamber the belt on the case hits the extractor and does not want to go into the cylinder without a little effort. Is it me or is anyone else having this problem? I would hate to be in a situation that I needed a quick follow up shot and was playing with the cartridge. Any Suggestions?  :eek:  :eek:

You might try "tweaking" the extractor so it doesn't engage is so hard. Might have to bend it down just a little bit. I did this to my 450 marlin barrel and it works great.   KN

I'm not trying to be a wise guy, but You probably won't need a follow up shot with that cannon.

You are most likely right. But I would like to know I would be able to if I needed it.

I could take my Tikka in 300 Win Mag, like I did to Alaska on my Caribou hunt, but I am trying to eliminate the extra luggage and have the Encore in a break down case in my large bag.  :D

I bent the extractor a little and it helped, Those weatherby 270 mag. shells are long and fat! :eek:
