I found a new 223 contender rifle for $289. That price looks a little suspicious to me. Should I be suspicious? I don't a lot about contender rifles, but am thinking of buying a 223 for coyotes.

If its an older non-easy open that may explain the price. If there is some thing wrong with it it is warranted for life. TC will fix it. I wouldn't be afraid to buy it if it looks good. KN

If you break it down it goes something like
frame - $150 to $200
barrel - $125 to $200
stock set - at $80
all based on their condition.

plus the value of any mounts, optics, loading dies etc. and this would be a pretty good deal.

The pre 195000 serial numbered frames hinged at a different spot than the newer ones and were harder to open. TC will do a conversion for a fee of about $55 if I'm not mistaken. I don't have any first hand experience with the early frames so if I'm wrong please some one correct me. KN
