375 Win Barnes bullets?
« on: September 28, 2004, 03:28:55 PM »
A friend gave me a box of Barnes 375 cal 210 gr "XFB" bullets. Will they be acceptable for Whitetail hunting bullets or are they too heavily constructed (not expand properly)? I have a Super 14 BBl that likes the Sierra 200 gr I now use, so I can just shoot 'em up for plinkers if need be.
Thanks
GHOF

Can't tell you anything about the bullet you mentioned, but I contacted Barnes about which bullet would work in the 375 Win 14 inch barrel.  Barnes said that I should try their 250 grain X-Bullet.  Supposedly that bullet is designed to give good expansion at the lower velocities in the Contender.  Plan to give it a try this year.

ghof  -  I have shot many of the 200 grain Sierras thru my 375 Win and they hold excellent accuracy.  I was using them over 35.0 and 35.5 grains of Reloader 7.  I have also shot the 220 grain Hornady and they do quite well also.  From reading past posts on the 375 Win in the handgun, the fellows really like the 220 grainers.  Good luck with yours.

:D Can any of you suggest a place to find reloading data for the Barnes bullets in the 375 Winchester?
