New contender w/ 10" barrel
« on: October 01, 2004, 05:47:22 AM »
I have decided to buy a new contender. It will be used for hunting and shooting IHMSA.
I will want to shoot mostly the small bore production class and hunt squirrel.
To meet these needs I believe the contender with a 10" .22lr match barrel will be ideal.

1. Would it be best to buy the frame and barrels seperatly? If I don't I will need to buy the whole gun with a 12" or 14" barrel.  I believe this would be a waste for my primary needs; unless, someone has any experiece of haveing the 14" for another good use. I guess I could use it for the other classes of fire, but really am a squirrel hunter.

2. I have done some research, but what is the going price for whole gun, frame, and seperate barrel. (I have looked at ed's, but only see barrels available. I would probably have to order the frame seperate or complete thru my local dealer).

3. I believe the barrels have to be t/c custom shop to meet IHMSA rules, I do't think bullberry etc meet the requirments.

Thank you very much,
Ryan
