I am interested in this model .223 also. Think I will drop by Wal Mart and see what kind of price and if they want to special order one for me.  If you get one quickly, I would like to hear a range report. My little Saiga .223 is fun to shoot but it certainly isn't for target or varmit shooting.

If either one of you guys have or get that Rossi, let me know if you want this 26" 20 Ga. barrel I have for it. Will fit Rossi centerfire or 12 Ga. receiver. The barrel is new and never been fired. I will let go of it for 50.00, that includes shipping!

bilesteve,
sorry I did get back to you sooner & Rogmatt, I have that same combo (.223/20ga). I wish Rossi will institute that barrel program they promised. Could give NEF/H&R a run for Our money. If they do I have one request that would give them an edge on the competition... a barrel chambered for 7.62 X 39. Not all of us want a SKS/AK47/Saiga to shoot this round. EAA (European American Arms) have a SBR chambered for 7.62 X39 but for what ever political/economic reason they have not shipped them over yet.

Kombi,
Think you'll find that loaded equally the 30/30 and 7.62x39 are pretty much ballistic twins. Most 7.62x39s are also now using .308 barrels not .311, so projectiles are pretty easy to come by and cheap ex-mil rounds for playing around with make cheap to shoot. In a single shot though I tend to agree the rimmed 30/30 would be nice. I'm also looking hard at the Rossi single-shots, thinking of picking a 308Win up for playing exclusively with cast loads in a rifle that won't brake the budget.
Cheers...
