Remington 7400 Date Manufactured???

Have two 7400 semi-autos and would like to determine the date of manufacture of each.   Serial numbers:

First gun    8413368

Second      B8041817     Note: the number following the 8 is a zero. (has
                                                                    a bar through the number)

Both are 30.06s

The way to determine the date of manufacture of Remington rifles is to examine a letter code found on the left side of the barrel, just ahead of the receiver.  This code is usually two alpha characters (sometimes three), and shows the month and year of manufacture.

If you post this code here, I can look up the date of manufacture for you.

Appreciate the information.  I was told the code was contained within the serial number.  Using your infomation I see there is a two letter code on the left of the barrel just ahead of the receiver.  Thanks again.
