Barnes X in an Encore
« on: October 06, 2004, 01:30:09 AM »
I an considering loading Barnes "X" in some of my Contender Handguns.  Primarily in a 7-30 Waters and a .270 handgun.   I have used Sierra and Hornady Single Shot bullets and they do quite well.  However, I have used the Barnes in my rifles and absolutely love them.  Barnes says they will perform just as well in the Contender/Encore as they do in the rifle.  So long as the velocity is 1300fps at the time of impact.  Has anyone used the Barnes in a handgun??????  Thanks for any opinion.

I have been using 200 grain spitzers in my 35 Rem. Contender they shoot great ,very accurate. And there ain't nothin' going to kill a deer any faster or deader. They work just as good as they do in your rifles I would guess.Good luck !

I have used the 150 gr. Barnes X in my 30-06 Encore pistol and they did great. I shoot the same load in my rifle as I do in my Encore pistol.  :D

I just posted on another board that I load the Sierra 130g SSP and the Barnes 120g X in my 7x30Waters. I like the X always have. IMO a 110g X would work better in a Contender but since there isn't one the 120g will have to do and it does.
