.45-70 factory 23" barrel, opinions?

Considering a 23" factory barrel in .45-70 for the G2.  Any opinions on this set up for whitetail or moose?  Would be mounting 1-4 Leupold VX II on top.  Thanks much!

It sounds good to me for whitetails in my part of the country, where the shots aren't very long because of the woods. I've had good results with the factory barrels. There isn't a long wait, either.

I think you will really like it.  I got a 24" 45/70 barrel for my encore this year for moose/bear.  I thought it would make a great gun to leave in the boat while fishing.   I also opted for the 1.5-5x20 VXIII for it.  I opted to have mine cut down to 18" for a little more compactness.  My factory barrel really likes the winchester 300gr premium loads.  If you reload the remington 405gr bulk bullets are great in the 1700-1800fps range for moose.  I bet you will like it.
