Marty:
I purchased the rifles through a local dealer.
I think these rifles are "Limited Edition" rifles just for Davidson. I have heard, from reliable sources, that there are only 125 of each being made this year.
All of the 45-70 High walls were allocated firearms. Yesterday, Davison's website said they had 53 each, 38-55's left.
Interestingly, Davisson's is also having a 45-90 BPCR, for Black Powder only, released soon. Now, the question is, what makes the rifle Black Powder only?
With the popularity of the 40-65 cartridge, it would seem reasonable that somebody would get smart in Winchesters organization.
I was talking to Winchester's customer service yesterday, and They said that if they received enough requests from the shooting public, that they would probably release a High Wall in 40-65, and in 32-40 also.
Sooo, it would seem like if we want one enough, the thing to do is flood Winchester with calls.
