Need help picking out Leupold shotgun scope

I am new to shotgun deer hunting and could use some help picking out a scope.

I will be mounting the scope on a Remington 870 12 gauge with a cantilever barrel.  I will be hunting in a wide variety of terrain/brush and conditions.

I've pretty much settled on getting one of the Leupold VX-II shotgun scopes.  Considering the variety of conditions I'll be hunting in, should I stick with the VX-II 1-4x20, or should I get the 2-7x33?

Any advice and suggestions would be much appreciated.

I would like to suggest a scope that would meet your needs. The photo of the Shotgun is a Rem 870 express with slug barrel and cantilever mount.

If you don't go with the Mueller, than I would go with the 2-7x33 for that added power if needed.

I got a 1x4 rifle scope. If you like a thick reticle go with the shotgun scope. If not go with a rifle version. I would get the 1x4 since 100 yards is a long shot with a slug gun. With the 1x4 you can't screw up and have the magnification turned up and cause you to blow an unexpected close shot.  :wink:

I use the Leupold 2X7X33 shotgun/muzzleloader scopes on my shotguns and muzzleloaders. I think they are a great scope. Better light gathering with the 33mm over the 20mm.
