References on making bows
« on: September 24, 2004, 10:53:55 AM »
As a wood shop teacher I feel that it is my duty to introduce kids to new ideas for projects.  And since I shoot myself and have always wanted to make a bow, why not bow making.

Does anyone have any real good reference materials on making a laminated bow.  I have all the tools for the job, just need the plans for the molds and such.

Thanks, Davedoinghisdutyinalaska

this is what i think you need.  if you need more guidance, contact t.j. conrads at "traditional bowhunter" magazine.  he is the editor and can put you in contact with folks that can help you.  guys that are into this are more than willing to help get youngsters involved in their passion.  with some effort you might even be able to find some professional bowyers in your area that would be willing to come in and offer first hand guidance.   a more giving group of folks there never was.   good luck; and thanks for making the effort.   i wish i had teachers that were interested in sparking interest like you seem to be interested in doing! :agree:

Dave, Try the following site:

Several of us have built both the takedown recurves and longbows and have been really pleased with them.
