Lyman 20 Globe Front Sight

Gents and Madams,

Most everyone is familiar with the inexpensive and readily available Lyman Series 17A Front Target Sights, available in three different heights,  (Lyman p/n's 3171076, 3171078 & 3171080) and the same aftermarket (Lee Shaver) modified models with Spirit Level.

Is anyone out there using the Lyman 20 Globe Front Sight, available in two heights, (Lyman p/n's 3201150 & 3201155)?

The barrel of the Lyman 20 measures .812 OD vs the Lyman 17A which measures .562 in diameter.  The Lyman 17A easily fits inside the Lyman 20, for comparison purposes.

Both Lyman Globe Front Sight Models fit 3/8" dovetails.

Seems in low light conditions or maybe in bright light conditions the Lyman 20 may prove more useful than the Lyman 17.

Lastly, yes, the NRA confirms the Lyman 20 is legal for both BPCR Silhouete and Target competition.

I have both, 17A and 20MJT. I love both of them. The only thing I don't like about the 20 is, is that it is so large and pretty unsightly on a small dia. short barrel but looks very well on a large barrel. You probably have a good point about the 20 in low light . I now have the 17A on my 34" long 45/70 rolling block barrel and it works very good for target shooting. If I were hunting with it I think the 20 would be better.
