Browsing through the new Nosler manual, they have added a section on the 8mm-06, a 30-06 necked up to take .323 bullets. Conventional wisdome is that this was done after WWII to souvenier rifles so that 30-06 brass could be used in place of 8x57 brass which was in short supply.

The interesting thing is that the Nosler manual and the Speer Reolading manuals show greater velocities with the 8x57 mm than the more capacious 8mm-06 wildcat?

Also, the Nosler manual shows higher muzzle veolicities with the 200 grain partition than the 180 grain Ballistic Tip in the 8x57.

Any explainations?

I had a 411 Hawk built on a 95 Winchester, but shipped it back the 'smith for new sights. I haven't got to hardly any real testing, just forming loads, and no chrono work. Zeglin is a very adept gunsmith and I would not hesitate to send him more work.
