17 Mach 2 Optimum Barrel Length?

If someone were to be thinking of shortening the barrel on their NEF Mach 2 from 22" to whatever, what would be the optimum barrel length?

Would it be 16" like a .22LR is?

Is the 22" barrel length on the NEF costing velocity in the Mach 2 besides just being terribly muzzle heavy? Would a shorter barrel with more velocity be more accurate?

Just wondering if this has been figured out yet......
