Rare Machette Discovery.
« on: October 07, 2004, 08:44:23 AM »
I have a Machette that a relative brought back from the south Pacific in WW 2 . He got it from a Jap soldier on Mindanao in 1945. I happened to see it listed in a knife book at the local library. ...It is sharpened on one side only,is razor sharp and has a scimitar shaped blade,with an intricately carved handle of buffalo horn?  They were made circa 1777-1800's on the isle of Panay,Fillipines by Mondo tribesmen. Value around $400. I alwas thought it was unique.   It pays to preserve such finds  till you can research them somehow. Horsefeathers

Horsefeathers;
   This is probably the same blade that was used by the Muslim fanatics at around the turn of the century.
    They would somehow bind up their stomachs, work themselves up into a lather (just as Muslim fanatics of today)., then run amok through villages, killing innocent people with those same knives.
  Gen "Blackjack" Pershing had to deal with these nuts on a daily basis.

  The .38s that the troops were using then, didn't stop those idiots quick enough to prevent further killing on the spot..
    So the Army pushed for, and got the 1911 Colt .45...

Ironglow,
I had a couple of relatives fight those nut cases. Most people dont even know about that war and think suicide attacks by fanatical muslims are something new  :shock:
My relatives said that when it comes to the 38 " The only thing that those peashooters are good for is assuring you a place in a pine box minus your head "  Speaking from their experience there . Not only did they like the 45 colt but the shotgun also when it came to stopping these guys.

   Sure enough, that's where the .45 got it's start...

   No doubt, the shotgun with #2s or 00 Buck would work well also...
