saw our first moose this weekend

took the family up to the hills this weekend, I was scouting a new elk hunting spot. we ate lunch in a campground after trying the goldpan some and I noticed a sign that read " attention hunters moose in the area be sure of your target". after lunch we drove some fire roads to get a lay of the land and I told my boys (5yr/7yr) to keep an eye out in the clearings along the side of the road for moose and by golly we ended up seeing a cow grazing on some willows  not 20 yards from us and she just stood there and watched us watch her for 5 minutes or so and then she just walked off grazing. it was great the the whole family realy enjoyed it.

I'm glad that your family got to experience that. Sometimes its just great to sit back and admire some of the wild critters out there. Here in Alberta it is not uncommon to see moose only a few yards away, its fun to just watch them and see how they interact.

Yeppers,

There is nothing like God's great outdoors.  I do more looking and enjoying than shooting.

How did I get over the hill without getting to the top?

Follow this http://photos.yahoo.com/ken.prince@snet.net link & you should see some pics the wife & I got earlier this year. Theyre from northern NH & theres a cow & yearling & A small 4 point bull in another. The cow was right beside the road & we got many more pics than what she put up. The bull was on a logging road on paper company land.
We see alot of them up there & he's right, they just look at you & dont spook real easy. I'v seen them in the woods & while they are definately a bit more concerned about your presence in theyre world & a bit skittish they dont seem to view humans as a serious threat.
