Darn weather!
« on: October 08, 2004, 08:45:25 PM »
Weather has been so unseasonably hot and windy that the deer are staying put just not moving. I have hardly seen any deer and none in a place that was legal to hunt.  :x Oh well the best part of the season is to come so I am not too concerned yet.    When the weather has been making the deer bed down I have not gone out as much as I usually do either as the price of gas is killing my normal hunting excursions  :x andwhy waste the gas to go hunting if the deer are not moving.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

Yep it sure has put a crimp on things  :x Expecially with a fixed income. It will definately make my hunt planning more instead of going when I want to and it will make more trips closer to home instead of the 30 to 40 mile away area I grew up in and normally hunt. I do plan to hunt there at least once later in the week if the weather cools down and I will hunt it gun hunting for the T zone hunt the end of this month and in Nov and Muzzle loading in Dec what I can afford to do so anyway.

Well the deer are finally starting to move! I went deer and small game hunting today and saw lots of deer but no opportunities. I almost got a shot at a fork if he would have hung around for a few seconds more but he moved on. it was a bit windy today so they were a bit nervous. Oh well would not be the first time.  Hopefullly more opportunities ahead. I just wish gas was not so darn hi, it really cuts into my limited funds. No deer but did shoot a black squirrel running from tree to tree with my scatter gun. No grouse either as they are in their low end of the cycle here.  All in all it was a fun day out hunting. Saw a few mallards but they were out where I could not get them if I did shoot them so I passed on them. Too much bog around both places I saw them. So anyway saw some critters so it was not a total loss. I saw more animals today deer included than I have since the season opened. Jim
