Somethig been bugging the heck out of me.............
« on: November 11, 2004, 08:07:47 AM »
I like milsurps a lot.  I have a half dozen that I load for and these have been cleaned, but not altered in any way.  I also have a few that were "Bubbarized" back in the 50's and 60's  All of the ones I have were nicely done.  Barrels nicely shortened, Williams sights, etc , good reblueing and so forth.  I feel these guns have a legitimate history.  It did not stop when they were sold as surplus, They served their owners well when even the price of a 30-30 was out of reach.  In particlater my older cousin purchased a 9.95 Carcano and sporterized it.  I think it accounted for 20 some odd Vermont deer and hundreds of pounds of Woodchucks before it was retired.  Please don't tell me that rifle doesn't have a nobel past.  Parallax Bill's forum has a treasuretrove of information, but the inflexible mindset yruly baffles me.  Does anyone feel the same way I do?  Tfank's for listening..........Essex County

I guess all we can say is that it's his website. I know how you feel about the old rifles, though. I have a sporterized '91 Argentine that is really one of my favorite rifles. Tastefully done, beautiful, accurate. Paid $115 at a gunshow. The seller apologized for not knowing what caliber it was. "That's OK. I do."

I know how you must feel but you have to realize the intent of his forum is to discuss these pieces in their original military configuration.
There are less strict sites.I can give you  a couple of links.
