Thanks guys for the information on who does what. But still, wouldn't the price of ammo come down, some way or another? I'm thinking competition between the different "brand names" applied for instance, you know? Or am I missing the target on this? I'm not really sure how this kind of stuff works. :?

I just had a thought; if CCI is manufacturing all ammo for the 17 HMR, manufacturing tolerances would be equivalent regardless of the brand name on the box. What I don't understand then, is how come certain "brands" would shoot better than others in any given firearm? I find it odd that even though all 17 HMR rounds are Mfg'd in the same plant, under the same tolerances, using the same brand bullets (eg. Hornady V-Max) that different "brands" would not shoot the same, so to speak.
