hello friends, i felt like i needed to make a post. As some of you know I have taken up bowhunting pretty seriously. i am currently deer hunting which leads to this post. my equipment is a PSE Bruin set at 60 lbs some Carbon wolerine arrows and 100 gr muzzy broadheads. my rest is a whisker bisquit and i am now using a release. My shooting is great
the other day while hunting a deer snuck up behind me and saw me move then took off so i i chalkjed that one up to the deer i moved my stand to a better location away from the feeder along some trails where hogs routinely run. not thiunking about hogs and totally concetrating on deer this afternoon i heard some brush crack behind me. the wind is swirling but i am scent free using some scent killer and doe pee as a cover scent. being blind in my right eye and a left handed shooter it makes for some tough situations for me sometimes i looke in the direction and caught the glimpse of what appeared to be a deer moving towards my feeder the animal was 6 yards away i am in an 8 foot lean to stand and the brush line is at sholder level in the direction the animal was coming but it opens up at the feeder. anyways I looked with my good eye and noticed it was a huge black wooly boar with tucks extremely impressive to me that protruded out and swept in a backwards motion. my heart about fell out i had severe hog fever worse than i have ever had it. so i watched it i knew it was going to come to the opening for some reson i did not draw when it made it to the opening it was a mere 10 yards away a started to draw my bow, as i was drawing it heard the arrow go across the whisker bisquit so i stopped in mid draw and restarted drawing again he took off ran 25 yards and stood broadised with just his back showing i passed on the shot figuring he would come back.
to make this story more interesting before the hunt my youngest daughter wanted to come with me she is 8 and has a 20lb recurve which is not legal although she shoots it extremely well. i told her nicely that i wanted to go alone but asked her if she would kiss my arrow for good luck she was happy to do so, the arrow she kissed had a NEP shockwave on it, and i wanted to try it out on a deer, as i am writing this i am feeling alot better realizing that i am gratefull to have the oppurtunities i do to hunt and should be happy to get 10 yards from a true trophy like that. lol after the hog ran off i got a muzzy tipped broadhead from the quiver did not want to shoot a big boar with the shockwave only drwing 60 lbs. i learned a valuable lesson when an animal is behind cover draw then not when he is in plain veiw i have now killed 4 hogs with my Bruin and am loving every minute of bowhunting
