Opening day plans - Take the wife hunting!

This Sunday is the big game opener (gun) here in Montana. It's also my birthday. When my wife asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday, I told her I wanted "to get a babysitter for the kids, and for my wife to go hunting with me."

She said, "OK, buy me a tag and tell me which gun I get to use."   :shock:

This is just the end of the story, to truly appreciate how we got to this pont, I have to go back a few weeks.

We have a young lady here where we work that we have been trying to "hook up" with a friend of ours. We finally got her and our friend together at a family dinner a few weeks ago.

At one point during the evening, she (the friend) and says, "Jerry, will you take me hunting this year and help me get a deer?" Wanting to be the perfect gentleman, I replied, "of course I will." Upon hearing that my wife says (from the other room), "He's gonna take me to get my deer first!!)   :shock:  :shock:

That was the first time she has EVER made any indication that she wanted to hunt. I suppose the fact that our "friend" is attractive and I am the "aging stud" that I am, jealousy reared it head.

And now you know "The Rest of the Story."

Sometimes...you just have to give them the right motivation to go hunting with you,when they don't want to....  Seems like you found it......

This could be good, maybe not so good. My huntin partner for 30+ yrs and I got into black powder rondezvous many years ago, my wife expressed no interest, she's not the outdoors type, his wife on the other hand isn't either, but thought she would like to try it just for the fun of it after knowing the fun we had. After a couple camps she was hooked and unfortunetly, so were we! :cry: The extra work required in setting up a primitive camp to her liking was a real chore, it totally took the fun we were having and turned it into a lot of work for us. It also curbed the man stuff in camp, which wasn't too bad, but it took away from the total experience. Just a heads up for ya, Jerry. I'm not against women in the outdoors at all, but it takes a certain character in women for men to be out there with em and still have a good experience. Afterall, they aren't exactly just one of the guys.  Having said that, I've hunted with some guys that didn't exactly add to the experience either. So, pick your huntin friends carefully and good luck to you and the ladies.   :wink: YMMV

Now I have a drawn hunt this weekend, Sunday is also my 34th weeding anaversity, now where do you think I'll be?

Well, I suppose you will be in the woods in the morning, and then a nice dinner to appreciate your 34 yrs of marraige.  :toast:  If you are like me, I can do 2 things at once. :mrgreen: Paul, it looks like I won't be able to get to Tn. until after 1 jan 05. I will be home from 2 jan thru the 10th. But I will be by myself, so if you can, we can go back to the range. I bring my trusted friends.(45-70, sidekick, 30-30, and my tracker 20 ga.) Let me know which you would get ; 22 hornet or the .223. I'm thinking I might have to buy one of them while I'm at home. Of course, I will have to sight it in before I leave. mme and the little lady will be out in the morn. to try for a muzzle loader deer  opening morn here. see started hunting this year shes good. firts day of bow season she and i walked on 2 doesat 20 yards. most my male hunter friends cant do that.i think mens feet are bigger...best hunting parddner ive had in years......  tune in later and ill tell how many  and how big  the ones she kills this season..
