I would use the red lens and dont worry about the wind as much as hiting yourself with the light  dont let the light hit any part of u i have had cats come up down wind of me they hear the sound and they want to know what it is Now on the other hand if a coyote ever winded u he would be goneeee  :D but a cat isnt as bad i would start off calling lite then about 5 min. or so get a little louder and so on u need to sat up to 45 min. in one place one day i sat for an hour and just thinking about getting up and the cat come out of no where and at night i put a tape in and let it go u will need a to get yellow hammer wood pecker tape it is a good cat tape if i can help u any more e mail me good luck
