An ideas or ways to lighten the trigger pull weight on a Rem #1, formerly a 7X57, now a 45-70.

Thanks

Absolutelty! I was recently helped by a fella on the ASSRA forum who goes by SSDave. He uses .050" piano wire to bend up a replacement for the trigger spring on Rollers. I put the piano wire spring in mine, and went from about 10 lb. spring, to under 3 lbs. No ther changes were necessary.
It starts by bending a eye on one end, then bend it to the proper length with a small 90 on the end that sits on the trigger. You can also just cut the trigger end off flush. Then simply bend it downward slightly to put a little pressure on the trigger, and install it with the same screw. Before reassembling the parts, he also reccommends Kroil on all the working surfaces and pivot points. This really makes the whole thing slick, and smooth. The hammer spring can be lightened a bit also to drop the pull more, but I didn't think it was needed, and if lightened too much, it can cause misfires. Mine was fine with just the trigger spring change.
I also used the same spring on my Rem. Hepburn, and it works just as good! I'm stocking up on this piano wire, and gradually doing all my single shots that need trigger work!
