My Daughters First Rifle
« on: October 22, 2004, 05:47:11 AM »
My daughters first gun is going to be a Savage Mark I Youth .22.  I was at a local Wally World last night when I saw that they had them listed for $50.00.  For that price I couldn't pass it up.  She doesn't know about it yet. I'm going to get it to her either on here birthday (Dec 17th) or for Christmas.  Ever since her friend (who is 6, my daughter is 5) got her first .22 about a year ago she's been bugging me to go shooting.  When ever we stop at a gunstore she always wants to try out the various .22's to see which ones might fit her.  This particular gun might still be a little big but she should be able to shoot it o.k in the prone position.
She's going to be VERY excited, of course so am I  :)

Congrats. bought my daughter the Savage youth for my daughter this summer. I shimmed the trigger to bring it to a crisp 3.5 lbs. She loves the gun and has put at least a 1000 rounds through it. I am jealous of the $50 price tag. My daughter is left handed and finding a left handed youth model was like looking for a needle in a haystack. When I finally found one I wasn't going to haggle on price

Just a quick update.  I happened to be at the same Wally World over the weekend and noticed they had another gun just like the one I bought my daughter on the display rack.  I was told they were sold out when I bought that one so where this one came from I have no clue.  The best part was........this one had a price tag on it of $35.00!!!  Needless to say, my 2 year old son now has a rifle just like his sisters waiting for him when he is old enough  :)
I posted this on another forum and a guy mentioned that he found it hard to believe that WM was selling guns that cheap.  I took a picture of the two box ends that show the price tags and I happened to notice that they are also consecutive serial numbers, kinda cool.
