Don't pass up little gun shows!!!!
« on: October 25, 2004, 03:03:55 AM »
Never, never pass up the little guns shows for they can have the best finds.  While I was walking around a little gun show.  I spotted a bolt action small ring rifle behind a sellers table that had the most awesome tiger striping on it.  I'm just a real sucker for tiger striped stocks and when they turn out to be all matching 1895 chilean 7mm mausers its all over but the paying.  I've never seen an all matching chilean mauser since they took all the bolts out and locked them up seperately thats why most of them are all missed matched.  It was the best gun and find in the show for me anyway.  Not too many surplus guns at this show the most were a few higher priced SVT-40 Tokarev's and German G43's. No other 8mm mausers like i've seen before too for most gun shows are flooded with 8mm's.  But i did see one table full of M44 mosins @ $169 that were pretty well beat up, well they showed some "history of being well used".  I go just to look and check the show out but i always seem to find a treasure around all the AR15 stuff.                              BigBill

It was a little gun show that I found my T38 Arisaka at too.
I have looked for one of those in good shape for about the
last 20 years!  Found reloading Dies and 150 rounds of boxer brass
on e-bay.  Just waiting for it to arrive! 120 grain Sierra's at about
2500 fps will be just about right for our local deer population!

S.Sumner; Congrats on the find.  These little gun shows can have some great finds.  I also think the older collectors are getting rid of some of their collections right now too so we are seeing more of this rare hard to find stuff.   Its the passing of the torch or should i say one gun safe to another.  I see the m1895 chileans starting to hit between $350 to $400 in some places now too??                                      BigBill
