Check the Hodgdon web site and see what powders they use. Their Extreme powders are great because they are insensitive to temperature.  I have used Varget in .270 for varmint loads and it is excellent.

I'm getting excellent results with 100 grain Nosler Partitions with IMR 4350 and IMR 4064 with 70 grain Ballistic Tips.

What do you consider long range varmits?
105 a- max is a very good bc round and accurate! For any thing past 500 yds.

:D Hey there Mitchell,

Just from my personal experience, I would sure give the powders like the 4831 H & IMR and the AA#3100 a try. Those powders have given me excellent results for years.

Keep em coming!

I use H414,IMR4350,IMR4895,IMR3031 and H4831SC. All work extremely well in a 243. My brotherinlaw swears by VARGET,but I 've never tried it yet.

Greyghost,
Some of the bullets over 100gr reguire a different twist than "normal" bullets. I tried some of the heavier bullets in my Interarms Mark X. When I finally got them to group decently, I was using 3gr over  maximum listed for the powder and was using a Mag primer. I did approach this cautiously,so please don't blow me out of the water for admitting it.

If you use the larger bullets in the 243 category, RL19 & IMR 7828 fit the bill perfectly, I use no less than 100gr bullets. Accuracy is great, one hole at 100 yards, good to go. Aim small hit small RAMbo.
