That caliber was the first Handi purchase I made. I'm about to trade the barrel for a .243 though. The .44 is a monster hehehehehe. I shot a prairie dog with it once or twice. Nuttin but chunks!

I also own one in .17 HMR, and it's great!

Let us know how well it shoots.I hope you like it. Did you order a whole gun or send a frame in for a new barrel?

just bought the whole gun, was a gift from a good freind. he ordered it for me because he heard me talking about buying one so much so he figured he'd get me one for CHRISTmas. he went ahead and gave it to me and said ... "hell, why wait? when you could be playing with it now

" so when i get it i'm gonna buy me a re-loader and load me some 300 grainers for the big stuff and load me some 180 or 200 grainers for the smaller stuff (i think a 180 grn bullet moving 2000 fps or better would surely put the hurtin on a yote at about 125 yards :grin: ) i might get an accesory barrel or two later on, or just buy a new rifle with the barrel fees NEF wants ! :eek:

I have to agree with you about the fees.why don't they just add that to the price of the barrel, besides the accessory barrels probably just drop right on the frame most of the time anyway.I seriously doubt they do much fitting ,they probably have a pile of barrels and try a few until they find the one that fits the best.I have to send my .357 mag back because it is puncturing primers every few shots,and I dread this, because it will probably take 40 forevers to get it back, atleast that is what the majority says.The scope mount holes are off also. I wonder if the will do the trigger job since they are going to have the gun apart anyway.

x8r, the CS section has quick turnaround time on repairs. BUT, I would suggest you send your barrel/gun in AFTER the new .357 barrels become available. It sounds as if they will have to replace the barrel to get the scope mounting holes straightened out and they can't do that until more barrels are available....<><.... :grin:

My 44 mag was puncturing primers too. I sent in back to be fixed and add a 20 gauge barrel. Total turn around was less than three weeks!

They don't always fit fine, I have several and have checked barrels on different frames, some fit fine, other don't fit worth beans, too loose.

They will do a trigger job if you ask, but it may cost $20. If the factory trigger pull is over 5lbs, it's free, if it's already under 5lbs, it will cost $20 for a ~3lb trigger. They quit doing the free-regardless-trigger-jobs when they increased their prices around June 2004. If you are handi with handtools and not a klutz, you can do the trigger job yourself, it's not that hard when you have the instructions to help ya through it.
