Trying to find FEDERAL 7mm-08 new brass, having to settle for cleaned once fired. Anybody have any comments? I have always purchased new WINCHESTER, but wanted to try FEDERAL.

I used to be a big Winchester fan when it came to brass. Since I started finding split cases in brand new bags, I stopped buying any more Winchester brass.

I now use more Federal, and Starline than anything else. You'll like the Federal stuff.

I tried FEd. brass.Stick to the Winchester. Federal seems soft,after 2 or 3 loadings,the primer pockets are lose and primers almost fall in.

I'm a fan of Remington brass and always have been. I have found many rejects in Winchester brass, ranging from improper length(1/8") to splits. My comment, which you asked for, would be to try Remington.

There are a lot of people that complain about Remington brass. I think what it is, is that they are not used to brass that is held to very close tolerance. Espically if they are used to Winchester brass. That stuff (in some calibers) is fair to good quality.

Want to run a quick test. Grab a handful of new Rem brass and a handful of new Win brass. Shoot a little lube on them and run them into the size die. Now tell me which one shows more sizing:)

My primary choice for brass is Star Line but if my caliber is not one that they support I go with Winchester. Im starting to load for 260 Remington and the only brass Ive found is by Remington. It turned out that I was quite impressed with the quality although I have not yet shot any of the brass, waiting for my gun to get back from the stock maker and my bullet dies to be finished. Have not reloaded Federal brass yet.

Man Remington must have done a 180 turn around since I last used their reloading supplys and that's only been a year or two ago. Out of less than 300 rounds I've had, Smashed brass, brass with no primer flash hole, flash holes off center, split necks, brass that only lasted 3 reloadings, bullets with varying cannalures, primers that didn't fire (10 out of 100) bullets that weren't finished, factory loaded rounds that were dud's. I have had much less problems with WW products but have noticed that lately the brass isn't as nice as it use to be.
