Got the Yamaha Bruin 350

OK guys the bike is home. Me and Matt drove up yesterday and picked it up. Got home just barely before dark but did take it out for a short spin. We unloaded it out back at the barn. I made a couple of loops from barn down past house and the blueberry orchard and down to the swamp and back. Nice. I really like the auto transmission. Shifting between forward, neutral and reverse is just as quick and easy as in my truck. Sure beats the old Recon all over the place. And best thing is Matt hates it. No gears to shift and no wheelies. So he'll stick to the old Recon which was the plan all along.

I got a green 4x2 and did buy the winch. It is the Warn 2500 pound winch. It costs only $69 and is a complete kit unlike what the folks down at Bama Power Sports told me. They also only want $120 to install it. But Matt says him and Bob can take care of that for me. It will be about 3 weeks before winch arrives. They say they can't even get it from Yamaha until the owner registration is sent in and then it will be forwarded to them. But it does come complete with every thing needed for installation. The strange thing is both places are owned by same people and they were really interested in hearing what I was told at the other store and wanted to be real sure they clearly understood which guy was telling me that stuff. Suspect by now someone has had a discussion with him.

I think I'm gonna like it really well. Lots of power, all I'll ever want in it for my kinda riding which is pretty sedate. It will be used here on the blueberry farm to pull my trailer mostly. No where here in Bama to ride on public land except for an ORV trail up near Cheaha Mt. and mostly the folks there are the thrill seekers who want to see how fast they can go and how high they can jump. Not my kinda riding. Now it is just Matt's kind tho. It goes way faster than I'll ever ride it.

Thanks for all the advice and comments. After all we've put the Recon thru I figured I'd never switch from a Honda but in the end the Yamaha won me over. Since my primary use for it for now is pulling that trailer which at times fully loaded might weigh a ton the 75% extra the Yamaha is rated over the Honda was really the deciding factor for me.

Congratulations! I'm sure you will like it as much as I do mine. It's a great value for the money. But then again, when I have to pull something that weighs a ton, I usually use the tractor!
