hello,
If i may post here about rossi rifles and i hope at least one person thinks they are decent guns because everyone else seems to think they are garbage and they certainly are not. the 12 and 20 ga frames are a bit odd looking but it  looks a sight better  once you thin the stock and forend a bit. i have a .44 mag that i have thinned and reshaped and it looks nice! i also had the barrel cut, better sights installed with a bushnell 1.5-4.5*39 in iron sighters at it is a  tack driver. who else has a rossi(s)?

Hello Single Shot Shooter,
I have a Rossi .223/20 ga Combo that I have put about 500 rounds (.223) through. I saw your post at the NEF/H&R forum and I had the same response. Mine is nearly stock, I have a 3 X 9 Bushnel on it and an ammo carrier on the butt stock. After a 200 hundred round, one bad scope (a tasco) break in period it seems to like the Winchester 45grn White Box hps. With this South American Made Rifle I have silenced at least half dozen critics on my favorite shooting range by turning in 1 to 1 1/2" 10-shot groups @ 100 yards!!! Repeatable groups. You just have to find the right ammo. BTW take-down guns (TC not withstanding) are not as accurate as a benchrest gun, but neither is your average hunting rifle. The biggest detriment to accurate shooting is generally the loose nut behind the stock   .

I've got a stainless steel Rossi in .357 which is my truck gun, rugged, accurate, and inexpensive.  Only gripe I had was the cheap junk rear sight which I replaced which an excellent TC Contender rear sight I picked up on ebay for $5.00.  Great for this purpose.

glad i'm not alone   .
jeff50cal sounds like your 223 is a good shooter! your exactly right about the shootin thing.
took my rossi .44 and .22 bbls out today with thier new scopes to be sighted in, i shots some mags out of the .44 and she kicks a bit i guess being lightweight and 16.5" bbl all adds up to a bit of recoil :). the .22 bbl was left full length and i was getting one holers off at 25 yds. Then i broke out my  marlin .22 mag (bolt action) and commenced to shooting hedge apples and pop cans full of water, i love shooting targets that go boom

Has anyone actually seen or held one of the new bull barrel .223 or .243? Saw them on the Rossi site today and they really look nice. I don't own any Rossi long guns, but probably could go for one of those. Anybody have one?

I own a Rossi 20/223 combo and I like it. I spend a lot of time in H&R/NEF and I saw the hard time some of them gave you. Don't worry about that. You shoot a single shot firearm just like they do. And truth be known, a lot of them won't admit it but they have a Rossi somewhere in their safe as well.

Be different if the NEF/H&R's were expensive weapons, but they are high quality American Made guns who's accuracy has surprised a lot of folks who have forgotten that American workers are the best there are.  The Rossi's are really UGLY clones of the Nef's, crudely made and best left to those who only think that cheap is God.  The price difference isn't enough to sway me to buy one, although I've handled them and examined them.  If they were an original design by Rossi and I didn't have the NEF's to compare them to as far as quality and accuracy goes, then I suppose they might be said to serve a purpose beyond being minimal quality weapons at junk prices.    I suppose the standard answer  to that are mumbles about "Global Economy" etc.

well here is what you can turn an "ugly" rossi into! below is a pic of my rossi .44 mag that i trimmed the stock down on. It is a 16 1/4" barrel with remington model 700 rifle sights and a bushnell 1.5x4.5x32 sitting in weaver see thru rings on a weaver base. i use the iron sighters so i can use my irons too and i dont have to use a hammer spur. It weighs just under 5 lbs with scope.  It is a real tack driver and will put anyhting down. people can talk bad about the rossi's all they want but they'll never change my mind. below and before and after scope pics
