You gotta Check the Q and A section at the bottom of the forums list. Your computer needs to be voice somethin' or other compatible. :D

TY for the link GB;; tell matt he look's cool in his glasses,,but the "vocale" part of this forum,,well that must be cool,,but I have no need to up-grade or down-load sumpthing fer two hours, just to here sumbody "yak" fer 10 seconds. I'll never try using it again.! I had too; go off-line,close all windows, re-boot and scandisk just to be rid of that damn "bird" your link provided! And my Norton wasn't nun too happy with it either!! I don't want no damn bird,,
that's my two bits..and you can give me the boot's if'n ya want,,cause my Ad-aware had to dump 6 different "spy-ware" cookies tooo,,,,just from that "bird" thing and this site. Sorry,,truth.

While I'm no computer genius by any means I can assure you the stuff you say you had to dump did not come from GBO. This site adds a single cookie to your computer when you log on. That's it. Nothing more. We have absolutely no adware and no spyware on this site. I personally refuse to go to sites that do and will never ever allow it to be used on this one.

My computer like yours is not set up to use the new Vocalize feature and neither is my wife's. BUT when we tried neither of them did any of the things you or Robert mentioned. Now it will look for the proper programs for sure and that does cause a bit of delay. But after not finding the proper program to vocalize it just went ahead and displayed the bird and his word balloon with the words and no voice. This happened on both of our computers.

Now perhaps you have your computer set to go try to find the needed program. If so then I have no clue what might happen at the site it goes to in order to get it.

But GBO does not and never will add any kind of adware or spyware to your computer. You cannot get a virus from GBO. The way we're set up that is not possible.

Like you I have no need for the vocalize feature and have no plans to get what's needed to make it work. Matt likes new technology. Since no one else was using it he wanted to be first. Me I thought it was a dumb idea but then I'm an old stick in the mud and had to be dragged kicking and screaming into the computer world to begin with.  :-D

But rest assured those spywares you dumped did not come from GBO. If Matt ever added anything to this site to do that I'd pound him severed about the head and shoulders. And yes I do have the programs on my computer to know if they are there.

We should have a warning about clicking that if it isn't installed.  Screwed me up real bad too.  I didn't get any foreign stuff....just locked me up completely....I thought I had a virus.  I couldn't even do  normal restart it was locked up so bad.  Had to turn off the power, turn it back on, wait for scan disk and then restore my desktop.  I am using Windows ME.  What system are you?  Might have something to do with it.  I have tons of memory...33.8 GB available on my hard drive, and a big new Atholon processor and it STILL got me.
....make it count

No problem here except it is one way and slower than reading.

Sorry gb,, I didn't mean to be rude.
But some kind of heads-up notice would have been nice,,my experiance was like that of Robert,,,,I run 98se with lot's of HD space and all the ram I need,,a little fore warning,,and maybe a "down-load" link for the "option" would have been nice. But it just "suddenly showed up,,I trust GB's site,,so I click the icon,,,,,you know the rest of the story

Sorry Matt - was nice to finally see a picture of you and hear your voice, but this isn't Mr. Rogers Neighborhood.
