Shotgun technique
« on: December 06, 2004, 10:24:31 AM »
Got a question for you fast double barrel shooters out there. Do you reload with your strong hand or your weak? I shoot right handed. When I shoot, I pull my next two with my left. I have notice several shooters who break open the gun then reach and pull with their right hand. Seems to me they are a bit quicker than I am, too.  What is best? I seriously need to work on my shotgunning. I've improved on my pistol and rifle, but I loose a LOT of time with the shot gun. Any comments will be appreciated.

I think you are smoother and quicker whith the strong hand, unless you pratice a bunch with the other. I'm not inclined to pratice much.

Either way of loading can be fast.

Keep the butt of the gun in shooting position on your shoulder while you load if you can. Some people find this is easier to do when they load with the strong hand.
