i'm currently looking for a hand load that would give me good acc, (1 MOA) and really good (subjective) velocity (3400-3500fps) with a 87-90gr 25-06. right now i'm using a load that consists of 51gr of H414 with a SPEER 87gr TNTHP but only getting 3226fps (ten round averge)so please drop me a line with your favourite loads and i'll get to work experimenting

These were given to me by a friend that uses light loads all the time.

85 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip ahead of 62.0C gr. of H1000 for 3,630 fps.
85 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip ahead of 58.5 gr. of H4831 for 3,581

As with any load you get given to you start UNDER the recommended charge level(I use 10% under) just to be safe.  Lawdog

I don't know if it will help you but.....

I get 3575fps with 56.5grns of IMR 4350 behind a 75grn V-Max.

I don't really see the need for anything faster than this because it is basically my all around varmint bullet and I'll guarentee anything torched with one will be done. G-hogs fly several feet throught the air with this load, so I'd imagine an 85-90 grn this fast would be crazy on em.

Good luck

3400 fps should be attainable in 26" barrels with several powders within SAAMI specs. But 3500 to 3600 fps? I don't think so. Not saying you can't get there, just not at sane pressures. That's .257 Whby. territory. Leave it to the magnums and keep all your body parts. As was mentioned if you feel the need for more than 3400 fps and/or don't have a 26" barrel drop down the 75 grain bullets and you might get there safely.
